Content

It seems like it’s been so long since I’ve made any new content for this site. All my journal icons are old as hell. I never got around to finishing my band blinkies either. This weekend I plan on changing that. I’m going to make a bunch of icons and blinkies. So if anyone has any requests please let me know in comments. I also need to fix my wallpaper links so they’ll stop resizing. I have photography to add to my gallery as well. I’ve just been so busy with other things and putting all of my free time toward leveling on WOW.

Halloween!

It’s Halloween! I didn’t get to go to Salem this year, sadly. I will be taking Ryan trick or treating though. Too bad it’s below freezing outside. We’re going to freeze our bums off. I tried to talk him into just going trick or treating at the mall but hes dead set on going with my little cousins around their neighborhood. Good thing he has a warm costume. He’s really excited. He’s going to be a Wizard. I’m going to take a bunch of pictures of his costume and post them up later on. He put it all together himself from a bunch of different things at the costume store since they didn’t have wizard costumes. He ended up with a vampire cape, Harry Potter wand, and Harry Potter sorting hat. At least the hat’s really warm.

Melamine scandal continues.

The melamine scandal continues in China. Melamine is the poison that was added to pet food shipped to America last year, that ended up killing and injuring many pets. This year it was found in Chinese powdered milk. The poisoned milk killed babies and left thousands of others sick with kidney failure. Last week it was also found in Chinese eggs, which leads investigators to believe it was in the animal feed fed to the chickens who laid them. This is really scary. I wonder how many other foods from China are poisoned? The list just keeps getting longer. It’s scary.

Priests Face Sex Tests

The Roman Catholic Church has issued guidance for future priests to have psychological tests to weed out those unable to control their sexual urges.

A senior churchman said a series of sex scandals had contributed to the rewriting of the guidelines.

The authors said screening would help avoid “tragic situations” caused by what they termed psychological defects.

The guidance says the voluntary tests should also aim to vet for those with “deep-seated homosexual tendencies”.

Among other traits that might make a candidate unsuitable for the priesthood, the advice lists “uncertain sexual identity,” “excessive rigidity of character” and “strong affective dependencies”.

The document also makes reference to heterosexual urges.

Seminarians should be barred if testing makes it “evident the candidate has difficulty living in celibacy: That is, if celibacy for him is lived as a burden so heavy that it compromises his affective and relational equilibrium”, it says.

The advice stipulates priests must have a “positive and stable sense of one’s masculine identity”.

The document, approved by Pope Benedict XVI and made public on Thursday, stresses that the screening must always have the candidate’s consent.

The Catholic Church has been rocked by a series of sex scandals in recent years involving paedophile priests, notably in the US, Latin America and Europe, triggering lawsuits that have cost hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements.

And a seminary in Austria was shut down in August 2004 after revelations that students openly indulged in homosexual conduct.

Gay rights groups have accused the Church of using homosexuals as scapegoats for abuse scandals.

The Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests (SNAP), a US-based group of victims of sexual abuse, said the revised guidelines did not go far enough.

“Catholic officials continue to fixate on the offenders and ignore the larger problem: The Church’s virtually unchanged culture of secrecy and unchecked power in the hierarchy,” it said in a statement.

“These broader factors are deeply rooted in the Church and contribute heavily to extensive and ongoing clergy sex abuse and cover up.”

Hmm, in my opinion this is a double edged sword. The fact that it will weed out child molesters is a definite amazing plus. But weeding our gays? That isn’t fair. People who believe the bible is against homosexuals always say that it’s against the ACT of homosexual sex. Not against the person for being that way. priests are abstinent, therefore not committing the homosexual act. So why shouldn;t they be able to serve a god they believe in?

Gore Rallying for Obama

Al Gore is rallying for presidential candidate barrack Obama in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Friday! This is good news. Gore lost the 2000 election by only 537 votes in Florida. He still has many supporters there. Him backing Obama can hopefully bring in some more votes. If Al Gore had got those extra 537 votes in 2000 he would have won the presidency. I wish he had won. :(

Six Feet Under

HBO put some more episodes of the first season of Six Feet Under up on demand. This is my first time watching this series. It’s funny to see Dexter playing such a dorky character! He looks so young too. I really like this series so far. It’s dark but not too dark. I really like how in depth all the characters are as well. Some of the ways people die in it are hilarious. Like the lady who’s standing up in the limo screaming “‘M KING OF THE WORLD”, then BAM, slams into a light or something.
